Applying for funding for a 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Course
With the key goal of fostering training and mobility of young scientists within Europe, the 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses Committee invites individuals or groups with a proven scientific track record on the event topic to apply for funds to organize lecture courses, workshops, practical courses with strong hands-on elements, or larger Special Meetings, as part of the 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses programme.
Important points for prospective organizers are summarized below but for full details please refer to the latest 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses Guidelines. Please note that the guidelines for Round 2 will be updated shortly and shared on this page.
Deadlines for applications
There are two rounds of applications each year, both for courses delivered the year after. Round 1 of the 2027 call has a 1 March 2026 deadline. Round 2 of the 2027 call has a 1 September 2026 deadline. Please note however that applications for Joint 91ÁÔÆæ/EMBO Lecture Courses can only be submitted at the 1 March deadline each year. Important update: the timeline of the new Joint 91ÁÔÆæ/IUBMB Advanced Courses has been extended to Round 2 (i.e., organizers can still send applications to this new course type by 1 September 2026).
Funding
The maximum course grants available for the different types of 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses are currently as follows: 91ÁÔÆæ Practical Courses, €20,000; 91ÁÔÆæ Combined Practical and Lecture Courses, €20,000; 91ÁÔÆæ Workshops, €20,000; 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Lecture Courses, €25,000; Joint 91ÁÔÆæ/EMBO Lecture Courses, €30,000; Joint 91ÁÔÆæ/IUBMB Advanced Courses, up to €40,000; 91ÁÔÆæ Special Meeting, €40,000.
As part of their application, organizers of 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses can also request funds to support the attendance of a number of PhD students and postdoctoral fellows at the courses.
Course timing
91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses should normally not be scheduled to take place around the annual 91ÁÔÆæ Congress, as specified in the guidelines for each type of course. In 2027, the 91ÁÔÆæ Congress will take place 3–7 July 2027 (Riga, Latvia).
Applications procedure
To be eligible for evaluation by the 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses Committee, proposals must fully comply with the latest 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses Guidelines (see section above). All applications must be submitted through the , using standard forms available from the ‘Downloads for Course Organizers’ list below (please ensure you use the correct and up to date forms).
Reporting ON A 91ÁÔÆæ ADVANCED COurse
Three months after the course, scientific, financial, and participant reports need to be uploaded to the (or emailed to 91ÁÔÆæ if there are queries), for monitoring of effective and proper use of 91ÁÔÆæ funds and to help with continual improvements of  the 91ÁÔÆæ Advanced Courses Programme.
