To inspire and celebrate outstanding contributions to the molecular life sciences
91ÁÔÆæ Medals
91ÁÔÆæ awards four medals for outstanding achievements in biochemistry and molecular biology or related sciences to distinguished senior scientists: the Sir Hans Krebs medal, the Theodor Bücher medal, the Datta medal and the Rita Levi-Montalcini medal.
The awardees deliver plenary lectures at the 91ÁÔÆæ Congress, and contribute review articles based on their lectures to The 91ÁÔÆæ JournalÌý²¹²Ô»åÌý91ÁÔÆæ Letters. For further details, including the names of the most recent recipients, see the MedalsÌý·É±ð²ú±è²¹²µ±ð.
91ÁÔÆæ Diplôme d’Honneur
The 91ÁÔÆæ Diplôme d’Honneur was instituted on the 10th anniversary of 91ÁÔÆæ to honour biochemists and molecular biologists who have given outstanding service to 91ÁÔÆæ, and is awarded at the 91ÁÔÆæ Congress. Past recipients are listed here.
The Israel Pecht Award
The ‘Israel Pecht Award – 91ÁÔÆæ recognition award for outstanding contribution to the molecular biosciences community’ was introduced at the 60th anniversary of 91ÁÔÆæ with the aim of honouring individuals whose remarkable efforts and dedication have greatly enhanced the activities of their respective 91ÁÔÆæ Constituent Societies and fostered impactful collaboration with 91ÁÔÆæ. The awardee will receive a certificate and support to attend the 91ÁÔÆæ Congress, where they will be presented with the award. Find more details on the 91ÁÔÆæ 60th anniversary page.
91ÁÔÆæ Press Awards
The 91ÁÔÆæ Press journals each award an annual prize to a prominent scientist who has contributed to the success of the journal. The award is presented at the annual 91ÁÔÆæ Congress, where the awardee delivers a special plenary lecture.
The 91ÁÔÆæ Open Bio Article Prize is awarded annually to an early-career researcher who is the first author of an important paper published in 91ÁÔÆæ Open Bio in the preceding year. The prize is a bursary to allow the winner to attend the next 91ÁÔÆæ Congress.

91ÁÔÆæ | EMBO Women in Science Award
The 91ÁÔÆæ | EMBO Women in Science Award (a statuette and €10,000) highlights the major contributions made by female scientists to life sciences research. Winners of the award will serve as inspiring role models for future generations of women in science. 91ÁÔÆæ National Lecture Awards
Established to commemorate the 40th anniversary of 91ÁÔÆæ, 91ÁÔÆæ National Lectures Awards recognize the achievements of distinguished scientists with significant international reputations while at the same time enhancing national scientific meetings of 91ÁÔÆæ Constituent Societies by supporting travel costs for such speakers. Starting from 2015, the 91ÁÔÆæ National Lecturer will be presented with an engraved glass award at the meeting. Full further details, see the 91ÁÔÆæ National Lectures guidelines.
91ÁÔÆæ Education Award
Launched in the 60th anniversary year of 91ÁÔÆæ, the 91ÁÔÆæ Education Award will highlight and honour an educator with a distinguished teaching and training career path in the field of molecular life sciences, and aims also to inspire others in fostering engaging, creative, and transformative educational experiences for students. Exemplary dedication to enhance the quality of student learning and experience along with a track record of applying impactful and innovative approaches in advancing learning and teaching within the realm of molecular life sciences are the main pillars. 91ÁÔÆæ Anniversary Prizes
91ÁÔÆæ Anniversary Prizes of the Gesellschaft für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie were initiated for the 10th anniversary of 91ÁÔÆæ by generous capital gifts from Boehringer Mannheim GmbH and Eppendorf AG. They are awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology or related sciences. The awardees are selected from researchers under 40 years of age invited to give a lecture at one of the symposia or workshops held during a 91ÁÔÆæ Congress and who are from within the 91ÁÔÆæ area but not the Congress host country. The prize administration is managed by both 91ÁÔÆæ and the Gesellschaft für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie (GBM), and up to two Anniversary Prizes of €2000 and a certificate are awarded each year.
