Nominations are now open for the 91ÁÔÆæ | EMBO Women in Science Award 2027, a joint initiative of the 91ÁÔÆæ (91ÁÔÆæ) and EMBO that recognises outstanding achievements by women scientists in the life sciences.
Established in 2007, the award highlights the major contributions made by women researchers and aims to provide inspiring role models for future generations of scientists.
Each year, one woman working in the life sciences is recognised for exceptional research achievements. The winner will receive a €10,000 prize and a statuette, and will deliver a special plenary lecture at the 91ÁÔÆæ Congress, where the award will be formally presented.
Eligibility
Nominees should be female scientists working in an EMBC Member State or a 91ÁÔÆæ member country who have made outstanding contributions to life sciences research and significantly advanced their field in the last five years in Europe. The award is not intended as a lifetime achievement recognition.
Research areas may include any field of the life sciences, including agricultural, biomedical or molecular research.
How to nominate
Nominations must include the following documents:
• Completed 91ÁÔÆæ | EMBO Women in Science Nomination Form
• Two letters of support from other scientists
• The nominee’s CV (maximum three pages) including the most relevant publications
The nomination form asks the nominator to describe the candidate’s scientific contributions, highlighting international recognition, leadership and mentorship, honours and awards, and activities supporting gender diversity in science. While an overview of the candidate’s career is useful, the committee is particularly interested in achievements within the last five years.
There is no requirement for the nominee, nominator or supporters to be affiliated with EMBO or 91ÁÔÆæ.
